Martin Luther King Day of Service

The Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department will host the 5th annual MLK Day Celebration and 7th Annual Day of Service on Monday, January 15, 2018.  Festivities will begin with a unity walk from Bethel AME Church to Zion Hill Baptist Church, where the ceremony will be held.  The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Pastor Cheno Echevarria from Greater Church of Acworth. There will also be a musical performance from Pam Conley, as well as a presentation from the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program.

Immediately following the ceremony, the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program will host their Annual Day of Service. They will be working on a service project at Roberts School Community Center for low income seniors and welcome other volunteers from the community to join them!  The Acworth Achievers are currently collecting toiletry items for senior residents who live in an Acworth housing complex.  Contributions are appreciated and can be dropped off at the Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department.
