Acworth Depot Park, located at the intersection of Main Street and Lemon Street, is an architectural replica of the original railroad depot which, for decades, brought commerce into Acworth, sent families off on their travels, and returned soldiers home from war. The Depot features static and electronic displays that tells Acworth’s history. The electronic displays have 19 professionally-produced videos of Acworth’s history, more than 50 oral histories of long time Acworth residents, and a display that will feature hundreds of special and unique photographs of Acworth. The static displays include story boards that tell the history of Acworth in written form and a display case. The facility is open from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. every day and free to the public.
In addition to the Depot, this park is home to the Acworth Caboose. Visitors can enjoy learning about Acworth’s presence on the Dixie Highway through a series of interpretative panels hung inside while checking out a unique perspective of Main Street. The Caboose also makes a great photo spot to snap some pictures of a day well spent!
