ERIN AND DAVE LABELLE SERVE-UP TASTY TREATS

Erin and Dave LaBelle have brought Scoops to Acworth to give people new ways to treat themselves, find the perfect gift, or throw a delightful little party. Scoops Ice Cream and Tasty Treats brings new life to a space that was a doctor’s office for 50 years. 4839 North Main Street has always been a healing place, but now it’s got a whole new way of curing what ails you.

How do people react when they first come in?

“I’ve had people scream in excitement. One lady even dropped to her knees,” Erin says. “People are so excited to be here. They usually don’t realize that we have more than just ice cream. We have nostalgic candy, and novelty candy that’s popular on social media. Like Slime Lickers and other big Tik Tok candies.” We also have wonderful coffee from a local roaster fresh every day.

Has Scoops changed the Main Street scene at all?

“Scoops draws in the kids. Customers and other shop owners love seeing young people downtown again.” Erin says, “My kids love it and are proud to bring their friends. They’re here at least once or twice a week. They help tell me what candy to get for the store. They are my little candy advisors.” LaBelle’s 12-year-old is already helping out at the store. He scoops and can run the register. Most of the Scoops employees are high school and college kids, which helps make Scoops a fun place to work and hang out.

What will people find at Scoops?

The striped awning invites you into the fun. It’s like you are walking into a 1950s soda shop with candy and ice cream. Your first stop might be the Bulk candy wall. Venture onward towards the brownies and cookies and arrive at the ice cream counter, which has a frost top with cookie dough and 12 different mix-ins.
Did we mention the chocolate case? Scoops has a chocolatier who hand dips gourmet pretzels, seasonally local apples, and more. Homemade buckeyes are a big draw. If you’ve never had one, it’s a peanut butter ball dipped in milk chocolate.

Any pro tips?

Erin says, “Make sure not to miss the assortment of truffles or the chance to put a shot of espresso in your milkshake. If you’re going for ice cream, level up and try your scoop in one of twelve different types of cones that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. “
Scoops is a one-stop gift shop

Most of us have plenty of “stuff,” so when you need a gift, sweets make for a memorable, crave-able gift that doesn’t add to life’s clutter. Turn to Scoops for seasonal items like chocolate strawberries, dipped apples for the holidays, Easter baskets, harvest gifts, stocking stuffers, and more. Pre-order or pick something up on the spot. Scoops will even pre-slice their dipped apples for easy serving. How thoughtful is that?

Make it a party

Scoops has a nicely sized back deck. You can reserve it for a party of up to 24 people and decorate it however you want. Scoops can accommodate all of your guests’ needs with dairy-free and no-sugar-added options. Pretty soon, there will also be a Scoops truck that will let the LaBelles take their sweet treats on the road for catering and local events.

Next time you’re on Main Street, stop by Scoops and pick up something delicious to fuel your day of fun in Acworth.
