Down-home comfort food, authentic Cajun cuisine, Italian Trattoria, artisan pizza, fresh seafood, casual homemade sandwiches and desserts for your sweet tooth–the choices are seemingly endless!

You’re welcome to take your drink with you! Open containers of alcoholic beverages are allowed to be consumed outside in historic downtown Acworth. Just follow a few simple rules. After an afternoon of shopping and dining, there’s something to be said for relaxing in the shade of beautiful Frana Brown Park, or waving to a passing train at the Acworth Depot. HISTORIC DISTRICT – FUN FACTS

Acworth was named after a town in New Hampshire. The Western and Atlantic Railroad began operating in Atlanta in 1845, and Northcutt Station was the first northbound water stop on the new track. Railroad engineer Joseph Gregg renamed this stop after his hometown of Acworth, New Hampshire, and it’s been known by this name ever since.

In 1926, Main Street that runs through The Historic District was paved. When the entire Dixie Highway (old U.S. Route 41 and part of the Cherokee Peachtree Trail) was paved in 1929, over 800 tourist vehicles entered the city daily.

In 2011, the filming of several scenes for the Footloose remake took place in downtown Acworth. The Acworth Presbyterian Church was used as the primary church, and the house of Mayor Tommy Allegood was used as Julianne Hough’s character’s home. Today, Acworth has become a popular location setting for  movies, and television series.
